Notice Notice Notice
Effective May 1st,
2007 the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad will change its method of assessing fuel
surcharges. The IHB is taking this step to be in compliance with the recent
finding of the Surface Transportation Board in regard to the application and
methodology of computing fuel surcharges.
On May 1st,
2007 the IHB will begin assessing a new “per car” fuel surcharge on all
traffic subject to fuel surcharge that moves under the terms and conditions of
its public tariffs.
Those tariffs are:
IHB 3001 series which
publishes rates to and from Portage and Burns Harbor, IN
IHB 8000 series which
publishes rates to and from industries located in the Chicago Switching
District
IHB 8325 series which
publishes rates and charges on various commodities moving in local service on
the IHB.
IHB 8530 series which
publishes rates on scrap metal from points on the IHB to points on the EJE.
In addition the fuel
surcharge application has been removed from tariffs IHB 8300 and IHB 9347.
Effective May 1st,2007
the tariffs mentioned above will be subject to a new fuel surcharge tariff,
IHB 6011, which will publish a per car fuel surcharge.
The current IHB fuel
surcharge tariff IHB 6010 will be amended to apply only on private tariffs,
regulated and deregulated contracts, and IHB exempt quotes.
Tariff IHB 6011 will be
issued on April 10th 2007 and will be on public display at the IHB
website
www.ihbrr.com prior to its May 1st, 2007 effective date.
